1963 Topps # 553 Willie Stargell
PSA 7 NM
Willie Stargell was elected into the Hall in 1988 by the Baseball Writer's Assoc. of America, 1st ballot, (82.4%) as a Pittsburgh Pirate. His playing career was from 1962 to 1982, all with the Pirates. Willie was a 7 time All Star, 2 time WS Champion, NL & WS MVP in 1979 & finished his career with 475 HRs. Also known as "Pops" , Willie was a huge fan favorite, especially in Pittsburgh. He was one of the most powerful homerun hitters in history, as my Dodgers can attest to. He is the only player to ever hit 2 HRs out of Dodger Stadium, which Vin Scully just recently reminded us all as Giancarlo Stanton, the 5th player ever to do so, hit one out of Dodger Stadium. Above is Willie's rookie card from the 1963 Topps set. Very hard to find centered & because of the colored top borders, very hard to find in high grade. As you can see, this card is very well centered & graded PSA 7. Current population is 521 with only 429 graded higher. MM-05/17/2015
