1948 Bowman # 18 Warren Spahn
PSA 7.5 NM+
Warren Spahn was elected into the Hall in 1973 by the BaseBall Writer's Assoc. of America (82.89%) as a Milwaukee Brave. His playing career was from 1942, 1946 to 1965. Warren's amazing career included 17 all star appearences, the 1957 Cy Young & World Series title, 2 no-hitters, 363 wins with a life time ERA of 3.09. Truely, one of the greatest lefthanders of all time, Warren played all but one season with the Boston/Milwaukee Braves. If you looked up the word longevity, you would find a picture of Warren. Even at age 42, he pitched 16 innings in a game throwing over 200 pitches, allowing just 1 run, a HR to Willie Mays. As a kid growing up, I remember Warren simply as one of the greatest pitchers in the game. Above is his 1948 Bowman rookie card, PSA graded 7.5 NM+. Great corners & clarity, also well centered for a 1948 Bowman as they are noted for their off centering, a population of 4 with only 60 better. MM-07/18/2012
