1968 Topps # 177 Nolan Ryan
PSA 6 EX-MT
Nolan Ryan was elected into the Hall in 1999 by the BaseBall Writer's Assoc. of America, 1st ballot, (98.8%) as a Texas Ranger. His playing career was from 1966 to 1993, a record 27 years. The "Ryan Express" was an 8 time All Star, 1969 WS Champion, 11 time K's leader & finished his career with 324 wins, 3.19 era & an amazing 5,714 K's. He is the all time strike out leader and even more impressive are his 7 career no-hitters. Nolan holds many of baseballs pitching records, including some not so glamorous such as most BB's. What I would refer to as a freak of nature, Nolan's fastball was consistently in the 100 mph range, but he was able to maintain that velocity well into his 40's. He pitched for 4 teams including the Angels, so I was fortunate enough to see him pitch many times. Many, including myself, believe he would have had a much more impressive win total if not for playing on many poor squads. Above is his 1968 Topps rookie card, PSA graded 6 EX-MT with a population of 1931 and 2424 higher. MM-01/01/2018
