1975 Topps # 228 George Brett
PSA 8 NM-MT
George Brett was elected into the Hall in 1999 by the BaseBall Writer's Assoc. of America, 1st ballot, (98.2%) as a Kansas City Royal. His playing career was from 1973 to 1993, all with the Royals. George was a 13 time All Star, 1980 AL MVP, 1985 World Champion, a Gold Glover, 3 time AL Batting Champ, a member of the 3,000 hit club and had a lifetime batting average of .305. These amazing numbers equate to probably the 2nd best third baseman of all time behind Mike Schmidt. George was also a great clutch hitter in post season play, and who could forget the "pine tar incident". On a more personal note, in 1981 I had the opportunity to play a round of golf with George at the old Tropicana Golf Course. The starter ask if a single could join us, we said sure, wow, were we surprised! Shown above is his 1975 Topps rookie card, PSA graded 8 NM-MT. Very well centered and a population of 1870 with 208 better. MM-04/26/2013
