1954 Topps # 201 Al Kaline
PSA 6 EX-MT
Al Kaline was elected into the Hall in 1980 by the Baseball Writer's Assoc. of America, 1st ballot, (88.3%) as a Detroit Tiger. Al's playing carrer was from 1953 to 1974, all with the Tigers. "Mr. Tiger" was an 18 time All Star, 10 time Gold Glover, finished his carrer with a .297 batting average, 3,007 hits, 399 HR's & 1,583 RBI's. Al was everything to the Tiger fans, a very popular player. I do not remember watching him in game action much as he was in the American League. One funny note though, was in the TV show Magnum PI, Magnum (Tom Selleck) always carried a rookie card of Al Kaline in his wallet, folded in half of course & often wore his Tiger hat. Above is his 1954 Topps rookie card, PSA graded EX-MT 6, not folded in half & with great centering. Population of 498 with only 573 better. MM-06/12/2018
